Merry Belated Christmas!

Merry Belated Christmas! We had a good day yesterday. Kwasi, Kwabena, Ohene, and myself drove to Hagerstown yesterday to see Mom, Bee, and some other family members. I was excited about going because it was the first time since Ohene was born (Dec. 15) that Mom has been able to meet him. Bee was there, too. They each thought he was very adorable, and favors me :)

Last minute I had bought Kwabena a couple presents for Christmas. He got 2 tubs of loose LEGOS, which he has been playing with nearly non-stop, building cars and trucks with them......And I also bought him a stack of new books. He loves Transformers, so I got about 5 Transformers books, and 2 Berenstain Bears books (my favorite!).

I hadn't even planned to get him anything because 1) I didn't really have the cash for it, 2) Christmas is very commercialized and I just can't fathom having a whole bunch of shit under a tree just because some holiday dictates it, 3) Kwabena didn't really make a big deal about gifts and such, probably because WE didn't, so he wouldn't have minded much if there were no presents, because he wasn't really expecting any present until I said something about gifts, 4) etc....

Anyhow, later in the evening last night, while in Hagerstown, we went to Uncle Tim and Aunt Les' place. It was a small, but intimate, group (me, Kwasi, Kwabena, Ohene, Mom, Trey, Uncle Tim, Aunt Les, granddaughter Isabelle, Aunt Staci, hubby Richard, and Granddad. It was nice seeing everyone. And I think we all agree that it's crazy we don't get together more often, considering how close everyone lives to each other. What a shame.....

We left a little after 6:30, probably closer to 7 p.m. The rainy drive back was very cozy; the kids were knocked out, and Kwasi and I just listened to the radio. What a nice family day :)
