Well, we're big party animals......I fell asleep with Ohene, and when Kwasi came in at 11 p.m. (and to head to bed himself!) and announced the time, I was like, "OH! Really?" and went right back to sleep. Maybe this means I'm REALLY getting old!!
Anyhow, things have been going okay here in the Appiah household. I'm feeling overwhelmed a bit with our new (big!) purchase called a HOUSE! I knew buying a house was expensive, but damn, I didn't realize just HOW expensive! I have to say, the next house I buy, it is going to come already DONE. I really haven't minded ripping wallpaper down....or painting....but shelling out (thanks, baby) money for new cabinets and counter tops, well, it's not for the broke, I tell ya that much. The main lesson I have taken away so far is to make sure you've got an operating budget for all those things you will need, even if you don't need to do those sorts of renovations--window curtains and rods, primer and paint, a leaf blower, etc. The list goes on and on. Did I mention windows throughout??
One of our renovations is that we had the old brown wood paneling removed from the family room. But just to get molding for the bottom, Kwasi shelled out nearly $80! Not a cheap purchase when you've got so many other things to buy.
So, it's been unnerving, to say the least. And I think the comfort will come when we can take a spending freeze, and we can re-group, and when we can be in here for a few months and really get to know the bills, the expenses, etc.
But otherwise, the house has been really good. It's been cold so we haven't had much change to go play outside. Last weekend we went and it was cute seeing the boys run around in the yard! Kwabena and me played a little Frisby, and Ohene played in the dirt :)
Kwabena is doing okay, but that boy....He's sooo mouthy! His latest thing when Kwasi threatens to take something away that shouldn't be playing with at that particular time is: "No, it's not yours." We have to constantly remind him that he owns NOTHING; that we are the ones who have paid for everything, even the underwear on his ass. LOL
Ohene is doing great! So cute! This morning he tripped me out!! I was running late with getting out of the house and getting the kids to daycare (although Kwasi's the one that usually takes them, but has been pushin' it on me because of his early morning conference calls). So anyhow, the kids and I walked out of the house, and when I turned around, Ohene was on the sidewalk spinning slowly in circles! I thought it was cute. Oh, but then he lost his balance and fell over into the bush! He looked like a freakin' drunk man!!! It was hilarious! Kwabena must have thought I was slightly off my rocker the way I hysterically laughed! No, Ohene wasn't hurt and didn't cry. It was just super funny seeing him fall sideways into a bush after he out-of-the-blue decided to stop right there and do circles in the midst of my rushing to get out of the house. It was the good laugh I needed! :)
Oh, and his hugs! OMG, he's been giving the most adorable hugs! He even curls up next to you while we're laying down with him to get him to go to sleep. And he wraps his little arms around my neck....LOVE IT!
Well, it's 12:19 a.m.....I could write more, but my body is saying to rest. I wanted to comment on 2011 Resolutions (or rather, THEMES for this year). And I wanted to comment on how I have been feeling totally Frumpy Fanny lately as I deal with a couple bouts of pink eye...not being able to wear make-up or contacts...having to wear my ugly, crooked glasses with the scratched up lens....Yeah, ready to bring SEXY back this year!!
Off to bed!
