Today was the day I was excited for: Kindergarten orientation!
I had dropped Ohene off at daycare, and at 10:30 a.m. we headed to the elementary school, in the pouring rain. First thing I noticed is that it has been a long time since it was just me, Kwasi, and Kwabena going anywhere alone (same as I noticed it's been a long time since it was just me and Ohene together while taking him to daycare; when you're a family, you never really break-off and go separate ways that often!).
So we got to the school and checked in. We got a school packet of info, with summer materials, flashcards, and some other info. Kwabena's name-tag was switched between first and last name, so everyone thought his name was "Appiah." LOL
While we waited there with the other few kids in the entrance hallway, OMG, I swear several times I was tearing up. It was so emotional! He's going to be starting a new chapter in his life! He won't be going to daycare anymore. He'll be a big boy, in a real school, on this journey to being a new student. Awwww.........
When the orientation started, the three Kindergarten teachers came to meet everyone, and one of the teachers led us to one K room, and the other two K teachers led the kids to another K classroom, where they went to play. I can only hope that Kwabena behaved himself :)
The racial mix of students that were there were primarily white, but there was one kid who's mom looked Muslim, although he looked white. Kwasi, of course, thinks it was a "racist" environment, which was a total misconception. This school actually have a good mix of students, and the socioeconomic status is middle class, not low-income like the school district we moved from.
In fact, just the other day, I was thinking, "Thank GOD we sold our condo and found this house a few months ago!!!" Because I didn't realize how quickly school was coming up! But thank the Lord we moved when we did and found this great neighborhood. I actually really love it here (last weekend we spent some time with the neighbors in the back of us, and all the neighborhood kids were running and playing--it was so nice).
Anyhow, the orientation lasted about 1 hour. Kwabena seemed to like the school and teachers, too. I am excited for the first day of school! I can't wait to see how he does, and what he learns.
Afterward, we dropped Kwabena off at daycare, and we stopped at the grocery store for (mostly!) junk food. UGH...... Anyhow, came home to eat lunch, and then I -- WOW!! -- fell asleep in bed watching TV, and took a 2.5 hour nap!! Amazing! I don't recall every (at least in the last 5 or more years!) ever taking a 2.5 hour nap! Refreshing :)
Well, all else is going well! I am now nearly 11 weeks pregnant! Just in the last week, my boobs decided they were going to fill out. Ahhhh....nature boob job :) Love it! I feel totally fine, too, which leads me to believe this is another boy. Just like my previous pregnancies. Then again, here and there, I used to feel a little nausea, but hardly anything, which is more than I ever felt with Kwabena and Ohene. I didn't feel anything with them. This time around, at times, my nose has been extra sensitive to smells. But, overall, I feel totally fine. I've gained 5 lbs already, and my eating habits at times are much to be desired. Hoping to keep unnecessary weight gain at bay.
I really need to take a pregnancy pic! Poor 3rd child.....doesn't get the same "weekly pregnancy shot" that Kwabena got! Ohene got some pics, but not as many as Kwabena. And this baby......well, I had to do better!
Ohene is doing well! He's been speaking so much, repeating everything we say! He now says "Mama" and "Dada" ("Daddy" at times, too). And he tries to say "baseball" like "ball-ball." And let's see......."pizza" is "pee-pee." Too cute! He's really so sweet. I love him so much :) Both my boys I love so much, and am blessed to have!
And Ohene loves to eat! That kid will eat damn near anything. And he loves the green spinach smoothies that I make for them, although Kwabena has to be prompted to finish his, or even spoon-fed, just to get him to drink it! I'm hoping he will just learn to enjoy it :) Ohene, on the other hand, will drink it up and keep saying, "More! More!"
Well, I haven't uploaded many pics lately, so let me post on another post some recent, favorite pics of the boys!
